I'M FINE ... NO UR NOT
I will always lean on my friends. When the Covid 19 Pandemic first started back in March of 2020, my fear and anxiety of quarantine stemmed from the inability to see my chosen family. So my relationships with them became contained within the technological box of my Iphone. Through both nightly facetime calls and back and forth texting, my friends and I both kept things from one another and opened up to each other at the same time.
I'M FINE ... NO UR NOT is a compilation of many text messages between myself and my different close friends from March - June 2020; as I navigated my own mental health during the immediate onset of the pandemic. THe compilation together works to create this story that feels as there is only one singular person responding to me rather than multiple. This book holds the want for support and the inability to ask for it; connection and disconnection.

A Last Trip of Friendship
Your late teens and early twenties is the time of life that is most spent being with your friends. However, it is also a true and necessary fact that not all friendships will last an eternity. The thought of this is one that scares me as I rely heavily on the close friendships I have.
As my two closest hometown friends and I have branched off to different colleges; with myself moving to Cambridge and both of them staying in Connecticut, I am constantly aware of our bond as it is one that I hope is everlasting.
A Last Trip of Friendship is created out of two 35mm rolls of black and white film shot on a point and shoot camera during a three day New York City trip with these two friends. The negative strips are intertwined with strips of black paper holding song lyrics that all deal with the ideas of friendship, growing up and turning twenty-five that we played in the car and train ride there. The lyrics hold my anxiety I have about growing up and holding on to my friends. On every other negative strip there is a different phrasing of saying "I love you" in order to display the intense levels of love that I feel within all my platonic friendships, especially with both of these two friends when we are all together.

I would like to thank Colleen and Kairi for being my closest friends and allowing for me to create this piece about our relationship.

Highlight Reel
It is hard to remember my life before having an Instagram account. Instagram, and rather social media as a whole, has an everlasting grip and impact on myself and those of my generation. While I was late to getting Instagram in comparison to majority of my friends, the creation of my own perfectly crafted highlight reel did not take long to form.
From posting photos of my friends and I laughing, to photos of the world I live within, to the ever so rare selfie, I am posting constantly on my Instagram. The captions of each post being accompanied with some artistic caption of a song lyric or other quotation phrase. As a photographer there is something I inherently find joy in sharing every image from my Iphone online, however, it is just surface level.
Highlight Reel is a collection of 52 cards designed to be the home screen of the Instagram page. Consisting of photographs that I have posted along with ones of myself that I have chosen to exclude from my curated space on the internet. This book was made to not only call out my own curated Instagram space, but for others to also reflect on how nobody is ever sharing everything online.
